Website Security

Malware cleanup for hacked sites, then the hardening, firewall rules, plugin hygiene and monitoring that keep the same attack from working twice.

Most hacked small-business sites are not targeted. Automated bots scan for outdated plugins, weak passwords and exposed files, and they find them. 1REALTOUR cleans infected sites, closes the hole that let the attacker in and sets up the protections and monitoring that make the site a harder target. We work mostly with WordPress and WooCommerce, and we apply the same practices to the custom applications we build.

Malware cleanup

Signs of an infection include spam pages showing in Google, redirects to unrelated sites, new admin users nobody created, a browser warning or a host suspending the account. Cleanup has to remove every piece of the infection, or it returns within days.

  • Take a forensic copy of files, database and logs before changing anything
  • Compare core files against clean originals and replace modified ones
  • Find and remove backdoors, injected scripts and rogue admin accounts
  • Clean spam content and injected links from the database
  • Rotate passwords, keys and database credentials
  • Request removal of search engine and browser warnings once the site is clean

Find the way in

Cleaning without finding the entry point only buys time. We review access logs, recently changed files and known vulnerabilities in the plugins and themes you run. Common causes are an outdated plugin with a public exploit, a nulled premium plugin with hidden code, a reused password, or an old copy of the site left in a subfolder.

We also check the hosting account itself. Other sites on the same account, old FTP users, exposed backup files and outdated server software can all reopen a cleaned site. Anything outside the site that could let an attacker back in is listed and fixed or isolated.

Hardening

Hardening reduces what an attacker can do even if something goes wrong. We follow the WordPress project's own hardening guidance and add server-level controls.

  • Tight file permissions and no file editing from the dashboard
  • Two-factor login for every administrator
  • Least-privilege user roles and removal of old accounts
  • Login rate limiting and protection for exposed endpoints
  • Current PHP version and HTTPS everywhere

Firewall and WAF

A web application firewall filters malicious requests before they reach WordPress, blocking common attack patterns, known bad bots and brute-force login attempts. We set up firewall rules at the network edge or server, and tune them so real customers and payment callbacks are not blocked.

Plugin hygiene

Every plugin adds code that can contain a vulnerability. We remove plugins that are inactive or duplicated, replace abandoned plugins with maintained ones, install premium plugins only from the vendor with a valid license, and track security advisories for what remains.

Monitoring after cleanup

We watch for changed files, new admin users, unusual login activity, blocklist status and uptime, and we keep clean off-site backups. If something changes, we get an alert and can restore a known-good copy.

What's included

  • Malware and backdoor removal
  • Entry point investigation
  • Database spam and link cleanup
  • Credential rotation
  • Search and browser warning removal requests
  • WordPress and server hardening
  • Web application firewall setup
  • Plugin audit and replacement
  • File change, login and blocklist monitoring

How we work

  1. Step 1

    Contain

We take a forensic copy, block active attacks and, when needed, put up a maintenance page.

  2. Step 2

    Clean

We remove malware, backdoors and spam content, and rotate every credential.

  3. Step 3

    Close the gap

We find the entry point, update or replace the weak component and apply hardening.

  4. Step 4

    Monitor

We set up firewall rules, backups and monitoring, and report on what was found and fixed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my website has been hacked?
Common signs of a hacked website include spam pages in Google results, redirects to unrelated sites, unknown admin users, browser security warnings, a sudden drop in traffic or a notice from your host. Some infections show only to search engines or first-time visitors. 1REALTOUR scans files and the database to confirm whether a site is infected.
Will restoring a backup remove malware?
Restoring a backup can remove malware only if the backup was taken before the infection, and the restored site will still have the same weakness that let the attacker in. 1REALTOUR checks when the infection started, cleans or restores accordingly and then fixes the entry point.
Do I need a web application firewall?
A web application firewall is a useful layer for most WordPress sites because it blocks common attacks and brute-force logins before they reach the site. A firewall does not replace updates, strong logins and plugin hygiene. 1REALTOUR sets up the firewall as part of a wider hardening plan.
Are nulled or pirated plugins safe to use?
Nulled plugins are premium plugins redistributed without a license, and they often contain hidden backdoors or spam code. They also never receive official security updates. 1REALTOUR replaces nulled plugins with licensed copies or maintained alternatives.
Can you secure a site that is not on WordPress?
Yes. 1REALTOUR applies the same practices to custom Next.js and Laravel applications: dependency updates, least-privilege access, two-factor login, firewall rules, backups and monitoring. The cleanup steps differ by platform, but the approach is the same.
