AI Search Optimization

Make your site easy for Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and AI assistants to crawl, understand and cite, using the same SEO foundations Google documents.

AI search optimization, also called AEO or GEO, is the work of making your content easy for AI-powered search features to find, understand and link to. Google's own guidance is that no special optimization is required for AI Overviews and AI Mode, and that normal SEO fundamentals still apply. 1REALTOUR treats AI search the same way: fix crawlability, write clear answers, keep business facts consistent and measure what changes. No one can promise a citation, and we do not.

What Google actually says

Google's documentation for site owners states that to appear as a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode, a page must be indexed and eligible to show in Search with a snippet, and that there are no additional technical requirements. The recommended practices are familiar ones: allow crawling, use internal links, provide a good page experience, keep important content in text, make structured data match visible content, and keep Business Profile and Merchant Center information current.

That is good news for most businesses. The work that helps you in AI search is the same work that helps you in regular search, done carefully.

What we work on

Crawlability and AI crawler policy

We confirm that search crawlers can reach your pages, including through any CDN or firewall rules. We then review robots.txt rules for AI crawlers and help you choose a policy. Search-oriented crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot and Claude-SearchBot are separate from training crawlers such as GPTBot and ClaudeBot, and Google-Extended is a robots.txt token that controls use in some Google AI systems without affecting Google Search. You can allow search visibility while opting out of model training.

Answers that can be extracted

AI systems pull short passages, so each service page should state plainly what you do, where, for whom and how the process works. We restructure key pages with clear headings, direct answers near the top, and FAQ sections that answer the questions customers actually ask.

Entity consistency

Your business name, address, phone, service areas and categories should match across your website, Google Business Profile, social profiles and directories. Conflicting details make it harder for any system to trust the facts.

Structured data

We add or correct schema.org markup such as Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Product and FAQ where it fits, and confirm that it matches what visitors see on the page.

Measurement without guesswork

Google includes traffic from AI Overviews and AI Mode in the Search Console Performance report under the Web search type. It does not offer a separate AI report. We track Search Console trends, GA4 referrals from AI assistants, and conversions from those visits, and we run a fixed set of test questions on a schedule to see whether your pages are being cited. Results are reported as observations, not promises.

What we avoid

  • Promises of AI citations or rankings
  • Hidden text or prompts aimed at AI systems
  • Mass-produced pages written only for crawlers
  • Treating an llms.txt file as a ranking factor

These tactics either have no documented support or run against search spam policies.

Frequently asked questions

What is AI search optimization?
AI search optimization, also called AEO or GEO, is the practice of making a website easy for AI-powered search features to crawl, understand and cite. In practice it relies on SEO fundamentals: crawlability, clear content, consistent business information and accurate structured data.
Can 1REALTOUR promise that ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews will cite my site?
No. No agency controls which sources AI systems cite. 1REALTOUR improves the factors that Google and AI providers document, such as crawl access, clear answers and accurate structured data, and reports measured changes honestly.
Should I block AI crawlers in robots.txt?
Blocking AI crawlers is a business decision. Search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot and Claude-SearchBot affect whether you appear in those assistants' search results, while GPTBot and ClaudeBot relate to model training. Google-Extended controls use in some Google AI systems but does not affect Google Search. 1REALTOUR helps you set a policy that matches your goals.
Do I need an llms.txt file?
An llms.txt file is optional. Google does not list llms.txt among its requirements for AI features in Search. 1REALTOUR can add one if you want it, but focuses effort on crawlable pages and clear content first.
How do I measure traffic from AI search?
Google reports AI Overviews and AI Mode traffic inside the Search Console Performance report under the Web search type. Visits from AI assistants such as ChatGPT can be tracked as referrals in GA4. 1REALTOUR sets up both and adds periodic citation checks.
