Mobile App Development

iOS and Android apps built with React Native and Expo, with Stripe payments, push notifications and App Store and Google Play submission.

1REALTOUR builds mobile apps for iOS and Android from one codebase using React Native and Expo. We handle the parts that slow most app projects down: payments, push notifications, user accounts, connecting to your existing website or back office, and getting through App Store and Google Play review. It suits businesses and organizations that need an app for customers, members or field staff, not a long research project.

Why React Native and Expo

React Native lets one team write a single app that runs natively on iPhone and Android. Expo adds tools for building, signing, updating and submitting that app. For most business apps this means lower cost and faster updates than two separate native projects, without giving up access to the camera, location, notifications or secure storage.

If your app needs heavy graphics or unusual hardware access, we will tell you early whether fully native code is the better fit. We also ask whether you need an app at all. A fast, installable website is sometimes enough, and it avoids store review entirely.

Payments that pass app store review

Apple and Google have rules about how apps take payment, and getting them wrong is a common reason for rejection. Under Apple's App Review Guidelines, apps that sell physical goods or services used outside the app must use a payment method other than in-app purchase, such as Apple Pay or card entry. Digital content and subscriptions unlocked inside the app generally must use in-app purchase.

We build Stripe payments for bookings, orders, event tickets and services, including saved cards and Apple Pay or Google Pay where supported, and design the flow to fit the store rules for your type of product.

Notifications, accounts and your back end

  • Push notifications through Expo's push service, which handles Apple and Google delivery
  • Sign-in with email, magic links or social accounts
  • An admin panel or API connected to your existing website, CRM or database
  • Offline-friendly screens for staff in the field
  • Analytics and crash reporting so problems are visible after launch

Many apps need a web dashboard as much as the app itself. We often build both in the same project, with Laravel and Filament or Next.js for the admin side.

Launch and updates

Before launch, testers on your team install preview builds through TestFlight and Google Play internal testing, so problems surface before the public sees them. We set up the Apple Developer and Google Play accounts in your organization's name, prepare store listings, screenshots and privacy disclosures, and submit builds with EAS Submit. We handle reviewer questions and resubmissions.

After launch, small fixes can often ship as over-the-air updates, while changes to native code go through store review again. We plan releases with that difference in mind and can maintain the app on an ongoing basis.

How we work

  1. Step 1

    Scope

We define who uses the app, the core tasks it must handle and which store rules apply.

  2. Step 2

    Design

We design the key screens and flows and test them with clickable prototypes.

  3. Step 3

    Build

We build the app and back end, with test builds on real devices throughout.

  4. Step 4

    Submit

We prepare listings and submit to the App Store and Google Play, handling review feedback.

  5. Step 5

    Maintain

We ship fixes and updates and keep the app current with new OS releases.

Technologies we use

Frequently asked questions

What is React Native with Expo?
React Native is a framework for building native iOS and Android apps from one JavaScript and TypeScript codebase. Expo is a set of tools and services for React Native that handles building, signing, updating and submitting apps to the stores.
Can a mobile app use Stripe instead of Apple in-app purchase?
A mobile app can use Stripe for physical goods and for services used outside the app, such as bookings, event tickets and orders. Apple's guidelines require those purchases to use a method other than in-app purchase. Digital content and subscriptions unlocked in the app generally must use Apple in-app purchase.
Does 1REALTOUR submit apps to the App Store and Google Play?
1REALTOUR prepares store listings, screenshots and privacy disclosures and submits builds to the App Store and Google Play using EAS Submit. 1REALTOUR also handles reviewer questions and resubmissions.
How do push notifications work in an Expo app?
An Expo app can send push notifications through Expo's push notification service, which communicates with Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging. The app asks the user for permission and registers a token that the server uses to send messages.
Who owns the app and developer accounts?
The client owns the app, source code and developer accounts. 1REALTOUR sets up the Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts in the client's organization name.
